Chiropractic Adjustments

The purpose of an adjustment is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypo-mobile (restricted in their movement) as a result of a tissue injury.  This injury may be due to one traumatic event or repetitive stresses (poor posture for extended periods). The injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Chiropractic adjustment of the affected joint and tissues restore mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness and allowing tissues to heal. Diversified Technique:
The most common Chiropractic technique utilized by a Chiropractic Physician entails a high velocity, low-amplitude thrust delivered by the hands of the Chiropractic Physician. This technique can be used to treat many of the joints in the body.

Thompson Technique:
A variation of the diversified technique that utilizes a special table with moveable segments called drop pieces. These segments can be propped up so when a thrust is delivered the segment will drop down a fraction of an inch. This dropping assists with the thrust while helping to minimize the force applied to the patient.

Activator Technique:

A specific chiropractic technique utilizing a hand-held, spring-loaded instrument that delivers a lighter, quicker Chiropractic adjustment than manual adjusting. The adjusting instrument delivers a low force quick thrust to a specific joint. This technique is good for patients of all ages.

Chiropractic and Children:

Is Chiropractic safe for children?

Chiropractic Physicians tailor adjustments and treatment to accommodate each child’s size, weight, and condition. A study by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association confirms that Chiropractic care is safe for children of all ages. It always found three unexpected improvements in children receiving chiropractic care: improved sleep, improved attitude/behavior, and improved immune system function.

Chiropractic does not specifically treat the condition/disease but does improve the nervous system therefore improving the overall function of the body and its systems.
